I'm wondering if HYSPLIT data that is available currently in ARL format, which includes NAM 12 and NAM 3km will be replaced with similar data feeds from using RRFS and RAP (the RAP 13km domain in place of the NAM 12km domain). If so, is there a location where I can test it before the switch in mid October (based on current info I have).

I see that HRRR data is available for 24 hours (for a 3km domain) but that is kinda not useful for longer term forecasts, a 48 hour set would be welcome as it does go out that far especially if no RFFS data source will be provided.

Yes, we will be providing ARL packed RRFS for input to HYSPLIT. Please find below a list of expected files that will be provided.

ARL-Packed format meteorological input files as follows:

1. Add RRFS pressure-level forecasts over North American domain formatted for HYSPLIT, with filename convention:
hysplit.tCCz.rrfs.na

2. Add RRFS native-level forecasts over HI domain formatted for HYSPLIT, with filename convention:
hysplit.tCCz.rrfs.hi

3. Add RRFS native-level forecasts over PR domain formatted for HYSPLIT, with filename convention:
hysplit.tCCz.rrfs.pr

4. Add RRFS pressure-level forecasts over AK domain formatted for HYSPLIT, with filename convention:
hysplit.tCCz.rrfsf.ak
where HH = forecast hour (00, 06, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 42)

5. Add RRFS native-level forecasts over CONUS domain formatted for HYSPLIT, with filename convention:
hysplit.tCCz.rrfsfHH.conus
where HH = forecast hour (00, 06, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 42)

6. Add RRFS pressure-level forecasts over fire weather (firewx) domain formatted for HYSPLIT, with filename convention:
hysplit.tCCz.rrfs.firewx

7. Add RRFS pressure-level archived files over North American domain formatted for HYSPLIT, with filename convention:
hysplit.tCCz.rrfsa.na

8. Add RRFS native-level archived over HI domain formatted for HYSPLIT, with filename convention:
hysplit.tCCz.rrfsa.hi

9. Add RRFS native-level archived files over PR domain formatted for HYSPLIT, with filename convention:
hysplit.tCCz.rrfsa.pr

10. Add RRFS pressure-level archived over AK domain formatted for HYSPLIT, with filename convention:
hysplit.tCCz.rrfsa.ak

11. Add RRFS pressure-level ensemble files over AK domain formatted for HYSPLIT, with filename convention:

Where HH =forecast hour (00,06, 17,30)
