HYSPLIT Data Interpolation

Post by hurricanemolina »

Hello!

I was wondering how the HYSPLIT trajectory model interpolates between meteorological model data points in time. For instance (and hypothetically), if I have 3-hourly temporal resolution data, and my delta t (time step) is one-hour, how would HYSPLIT compute the wind speed (thus, air parcel velocity) at three time steps if it were running for 3-hours?

Thank you very much for your help understanding this concept!

The meteorological data is linearly interpolated in both space and time during the calculation.
