which files are meteorological data?
On the 3 ftp sites noted in the tutorial, what 'types', or extensions have general and useful data for dispersion modeling? There are so many!! I can see by the labels that some are clearly for special situations. Is there a 'vanilla' version that suits a range of needs? Thanks, Mike
Re: which files are meteorological data?
All the met files available on the FTP site are in HYSPLIT ready format (binary) for running trajectory or dispersion.
Info about the archive datasets is on https://www.ready.noaa.gov/archives.php. You can also go to the README files in each subdirectory (for archives and forecast data) to get a better understanding of what types of met datasets are available.
