Good morning to you. I downloaded the subject file (gdas1.jun20.w3 - an assignment given to us during Day 2 Training) and tried opening it with Notepad but was not responding. Please what is the appropriate format for opening the file?

The meteorological files cannot be opened and viewed in something like notepad. It is best to use the hysplit gui:
meteorology > Display > check data > set file name of arl format data > run file program

Please keep them in an easily accessible location as we will be using them to run some hysplit simulations today.
