types of input grids and internal model grid structure

Post by MarcelMeyer »

which types of meteorological simulation data can be processed as input to Hysplit (e.g. ERA5)?
which vertical grids in input data are supported (pressure levels / model levels / others) and what kind of internal model grid is used for trajectory and concentration runs?

We have developed converters for output from different meteorological models. There is one for ERA5 (era52arl). Please see this post: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1351&p=4513&hilit=era52arl#p3882

The met converters take care of met data with different types of vertical coordinate and map projection. HYSPLIT uses lat/long grid and terrain-following coordinate system. A description of it is available in HYSPLIT's technical note which can be found in ~/hysplit/document/arl-224.pdf
