Horizontal Resolution - how small can we get?

Post by sga »

I’m considering back trajectory analysis to determine the source of emission origin for a facility monitor that is surrounded by neighboring industries. I’m looking into using HYSPLIT as an option but was not sure if it is appropriate for highly local domains (we’re talking county-specific .. 10-20 km domain with a resolution of 0.5-1 km .. 1-hour output frequency).

Hysplit can get a horizontal resolution similar to the available meteorological data. So, if you are running, say WRF, at 1 km resolution then you can run HYSPLIT at the same resolution.
