Dear HYSPLIT community,
How should I specify the emission rate (1/h) for an ozone concentration of 243.92 ug/m3, considering that this concentration represents the maximum daily 8-hour average (MDA8)?
Additionally, should the contour maps display a maximum concentration of 243.92 ug/m3 within the first hour?
I appreciate you suggestions.
Regards,

Re: Specifying the emission rate for MDA8 Ozone
Could you provide more context on what you are trying to do?
For a forward dispersion run, one needs to provide the model with emission estimates - that is the location(s) of the source(s) and approximate emission rate. Sometimes people will use some kind of emissions inventory for this.
If you have no idea what the emissions, then if you have enough measurements, you can try one of the methods to try to determine the sources.
The setup for this can vary depending on what kind of information you have.
If the measurements you are comparing to are 8 hour averages, then you probably want the model output to be an 8 hour average as well.
See here on how to set the output averaging time.
