No precipitation in trajectory using ERA-Interim

Post by 122041884 »

I have convert the ERA-Interim to ARL sucessfully. And I want to know the precipitation amount along a trajectory during 1979-1999. However, the precipitation value is ZERO for all locations of a trajectory. The precipitation value is not zero when i using GDAS Data (2005-Now). What is wrong about the ERA data. How can I solve this problem?

Please check that you have the precipitation data in your ERA-Interim file.

You can do this with the profile utility program called profile.exe or chk_file.exe located in c:/hysplit/exec/. Also, you can run it through the GUI by clicking Meteorology/Display Data/Text Profile
https://www.ready.noaa.gov/hysplitusersguide/S132.htm

If the precipitation data is not there, then check the grib file that you converted the data from to see if it is included.
