Spatial extent of WRF 27km ARL packed data

Post by claireschollaert »

We are looking to couple HYSPLIT with a wildfire emissions model using the WRF 27km ARL data. We are trying to prepare the WRF 27 km dataset provided via HYSPLIT for use in the emissions model but have run into issues projecting the data, which we think may be an issue with the spatial extent provided. We have been using the stiltread package to extract the data. The meta data are below:

class : RasterLayer
dimensions : 174, 216, 37584 (nrow, ncol, ncell)
resolution : 26960.17, 26897.69 (x, y)
extent : 0, 5823396, -95451.28, 4584747 (xmin, xmax, ymin, ymax)
crs : +proj=lcc +lat_0=37.86 +lon_0=-98 +lat_1=37.86 +lat_2=37.86 +x_0=0 +y_0=0 +ellps=WGS84 +units=m +no_defs
source : memory
names : layer
values : -13.5434, 13.1441 (min, max)

The extent seems incorrect and we are wondering if someone knows what the correct extent should be. Alternatively, if anyone knows of a better way to extract these data from the ARL-format for manipulation in R or ArcGIS, we'd appreciate any recommendations!

You can try to use MeteoInfo to read ARL packed data.
