Meteorological Data

Post by pjsamson »

In the past I used EDAS40 meteorological data for calculating 3-day backward trajectories within the contiguous United States. Are there recommendations for which data set is best to use now (NAMS? NAMS-12?...)

It depends in part on what scale you are interested in. Smaller scale models generally resolve smaller meteorological features, though no model is perfect. Some of our archives have different spatial and temporal resolutions. See https://www.ready.noaa.gov/archives.php. You could try these archives and see which is best - nam12, nams, wrf27km, narr. Both nam12 and nams may have some missings.
