Hi everyone,
ı have jus started tutorial 7 "Air Concentration Calculations" and for 7.1 Reconfiguring the test case.
I opened the Hysplit4 and pressed Concentration / Setup Run saved, run model, displayed and took the same result as in tutorial(attacment1).
But when ı wanna carry out the second case "Concentration / Setup Run menu tab to open the concentration setup menu to set all the concentration run parameters. Change the starting time to 83 09 25 17, the run duration to 12 hours, and the starting location to the tracer release point 39.90 -84.22 10.0. Clear the meteorology files and then add captex2_narr.bin from the Tutorial/captex directory. When finished with the changes, Save" doing everything step by step and following tutor as online ı got result different from him, as below "attacment2"
Although the shape of the concentration totally different from test case as below, max and min concentration
slightly different.
Test case
I wanna add one more thing when ı use the captex_2gblr.bin data file, ı get a similar results with the test case.
I think my captex_narr.bin data different from tutor's or not, what causes it and what are the differences?
I m looking forward to your answers,
Best regards,

Re: Reconfiguring Test Case Misleading
The problem you have discovered is simply that the on-line version of the tutorial that you found on the NOAA-ARL web page at https://ready.arl.noaa.gov/HYSPLIT_Tutorials.php has not been updated to reflect any of the recent changes to the model. This is because that particular version of the tutorial is consistent with the video and audio transcriptions. There have been changes to the model with respect to computations using TKE and that is what you are seeing with respect to the differences using NARR data. That is why the most recent version of the tutorial uses the WRF data rather than NARR. An updated tutorial is available for download from annual workshop pages, for instance, https://www.ready.noaa.gov/data/web/workshop/Sep2019/. We will need to update the original https://ready.arl.noaa.gov/HYSPLIT_Tutorials.php page to show links to the updated tutorials. Although not a NOAA web site, you can always find the most recent updates to the tutorial at https://www.hysplit.com/tutorial/.
