*.ASC files (LANDUSE.ASC, ROUGLEN.ASC, TERRAIN.ASC) to use with *.gfs0p25 data

Post by djunior »

I need to calculate trajectories using GFS quarter-degree archive.

The bdyfiles directory contains three text files that provide default values for landuse, terrain, and aerodynamic roughess. I found bdyfiles directory in the HYSPLIT installation, but only for GDAS1 and GDAS0p5

Is it possible to download bdyfiles for quarter-degree resolution?

The GFS quarter-degree archive has terrain and roughness. So, HYSPLIT uses them when they are available in the met data instead of using those *.ASC files.
For calculating trajectories, the model does not require landuse and roughness length. They are for computing deposition.
