HYSPLIT provides mixing layer heights (MLHs) as one of the outputs of the trajectory runs. Some literature tries to explain how HYSPLIT uses the potential temperature gradient (~ 2K ) to calculate these values. I was wondering if there exists any documentation of an in-depth explanation of how the model calculates the mixing layer height.
Can you please share the documents or papers which will help me get to know more about it.
Thank you.
