odd sized met files

Post by sch576 »

What can I do to work around odd sized .hrrra files?

For example most all .hrrra files are 3.49GB in size.

The file for hysplit.20180821.06z is only 2.32 at arlftp.arlhq.noaa.gov/archives/hrrr

It is causing an unusually sparse qdump and I'm curious to get to the bottom of it.

Apparently that file was incomplete and we are not able to recreate it. It has been removed from the archive. Sorry for the inconvenience.

So the hrrr file in question, hysplit.20180821.06z, was glitched and cannot be regenerated?

What should I do? I'm tempted to add 20180821_nam12 just to get through those lost hours, but is there a better solution?

Unfortunately that is correct. We occasionally have communication issues that can cause these missing cycles and NCEP does not archive these sigma level files. You should be able to use the NAMS CONUS file as it is hourly at 12 km to fill in that one time period. You can find it at:

ftp://arlftp.arlhq.noaa.gov/nams
