Vertical Mixing Coefficients

Post by lagom »

Hi everybody

Reading the Hysplit technical guide it seems that, using the Beljaars-Holtslag expressions for vertical mixing coefficients, the K profile at each grid point is replaced with its vertical average.

Is it possible to use this method anyway avoiding such a vertical average?

thank you in advance

The model will only perform the vertical averaging of the K profile if KMIX=1. Setting KMIX=0 (default) in the SETUP.CFG file will use the K profile.
I assume you are setting KBLT=1 to use the Beljaars-Holtslag parameterization.

Great question!!
