No result using Concentration/Special Runs/Geolocation

Post by kmwai »

Hello,

I am new in using the above function.

Two questions:
1. for Trajectory/Special Runs/Geolocation, I can run successfully my own case by modifying the "traj_fwrd_control.txt" and "captex2_meas.txt" in Section 5.4 of the Hysplit on-line tutorial. How can I adjust the output % of the Trajectory frequency becoming an average between 0 to 100 meters instead of between 0 and 99999 m?

2. for Concentration/Special Runs/Geolocation, I run successfully for the tutorial case (i.e. Section 10.3 of the Hysplit on-line tutorial). However, my own (test) run is not successful using a modified measurement file from the above case and I do not know the reason. The error message is shown below. Attached are the relevant files for my case.

Please help.

Best regards,

Peter

You are using a pretty old version of the code. Could you please update it to be compatible with the version that we used to develop the on-line tutorial?

Thank you for your reply. I have installed and run using the most latest version (761) but still I get the same error message as below. Please help.

1) To change the height of the trajectory frequency you have to go to the Trajectory/Display/Frequency menu and replace the Layer top with 100.0

2) It seems that your concentration grid is not capturing the emission (~3000 m). Try increasing the height of the concentration grid.

Hello,

Thanks for your reply.

Further to my question 1 concerning the Source Geolocation (i.e. Section 5.4 of the online tutorial), I note that the method works for various sampling locations by examining the captex2_meas.txt file. Of course it is desirable to have a dataset of several sampling locations. What if I just have one sampling location with a time series data? Will this method still be sounded, at least in principle?

Please suggest.

Thanks.

Best wishes,

Peter

Using trajectories from a single receptor could be quite challenging.
I would suggest taking look at section 10 of the online training material. http://ready.arl.noaa.gov/documents/Tut ... index.html
