turning on deposition of gas

Post by dmitry »

Dear all,

I am trying to understand how does the dry deposition remove the gaseous pollutant in my disperison run. I have noticed a feature that seems strange for me. To consider my pollutant as gas I set all the zeros in the [particle diameter, density, shape] line of the CONTROL file. Then, I set the following in the next line:

0.0 28.0 0.1 1.6 0.01 [deposition velocity, molecular weight, A-ratio, D-ratio, Henry]

0.0 value of velocity means that it has to be calculated according to the followed values, including the molecular weight. However, I have played a lot with different weight values and I see almost no change in the concentration output results. Even if I change the molecular weight from 28 to 5000 (!) - the change in concentration is quite neglegible!

Is it normal? Or I am doing something wrong, or don't understand something simple?..

Thank you in advance!

Dmitry
p.s. my HYSPLIT is version 4, rev 951
