Incorporating Visibility?

Good afternoon:
I've been struggling for a bit trying to incorporate visibility impacts into a smoke plume model I'm developing using HYSPLIT. The model I'm currently developing I've worked on for a few years, and this is one of the final parts of it.
This new model was intended to replace an older one that has run for years. It used HYSPLIT as well, but a very old version of it (probably from the early or mid-2000s). That machine finally went down seemingly for good on Monday.
What I've been trying to do is use concentration to show where it's high enough to hamper visibility to 1000 ft or below. The old model we used was able to do that.
We're running HYSPLIT on an Ubuntu server. Any help with this is greatly appreciated!
