Configure the Turbulence Method

Dear all,

I am new to HYSPLIT. I would just like to confirm something on running dispersal modelling.

According to the tutorial, we do not have to configure the turbulence method (7) under Advanced/Configuration Setup/Concentration and just leave it as default. Because HYSPLIT will choose the optimal configuration for users automatically.

Would I be correct? Your help would be much appreciated. Thanks. :-)

Kind Regards,

Ming

HYSPLIT uses defaults which are based on what we find to be the best configuration
for most simulations. The defaults also take into consideration what data is available in
the meteorological input file you are using. For instance, the default is to use heat and momentum fluxes to
compute velocity variances, but if those are not available the program will default to using wind and temperature profiles and
that will be noted in the output MESSAGE file.

The defaults are the same for every simulation and are not necessarily the optimal configuration
for every situation.

See the help file for more information.
