NUMPAR Clarification

Post by Smaug »

The manual states that "NUMPAR represents the total number of particles that are released during one release cycle" and a similar thread states that "The actual particle release rate is computed by dividing NUMPAR by the number of sources and release hours".

So when you are releasing n number of particles as your NUMPAR value, and you have x number of sources; is the total number of particles released n, which is then evenly distributed across x sources (given that you only have one release cycle) ?

Thanks

Yes. The total number of particles released is shown in the MESSAGE file. See c:\hysplit4\html\S443.htm and/or https://ready.arl.noaa.gov/hypub/hysp_msgfile.pdf.
