Deposition - graphical output

Hello!
I am relatively new to Hysplit and I tried some modelling both on the webbased application as well as on the PC version. When running the webbased version, I get an output with deposition contours and concentration contours, on the PC version only concentration: does this mean my data did not produce any deposition on the PC version or how can I visualize the file?

Another question: I intend to use the chemical modules for SO2-SO4. It the required gridded emission inventory the same file as the EMITIMES? If not, how can I create such a file?

Thanks!
Martina

To obtain a deposition map in the PC version you will need to set the lowest vertical concentration level to zero. For an example of how to set up a run with dry deposition please follow this link:

I am not sure what particular application you have in mind but below is an example of how to set up a SO2-to sulfate conversion run for a volcano application:

Hi!
I worked at my model and could now execute both of the examples you showed me above. My question is now about the chemical module, not changed since the 1990 and the reference publications are Rolph, Draxler and De Pena (1993) and Rolph and Draxler (1992). I downloaded the module and looked through the readme section and tried the prefigured modelling which works fine. My question is how can I generate a "gridded emission file", with which method did you do that?

Thanks!
Martina

Unfortunately, you will have to generate your own emissions. When the chemical modules were developed, ARL scientists developed a very simplified emission file based on the annual US emission inventory for the early 1990s.

Hi! Thanks for the answer. I am going through all the files available in order to create my own emission file and I am just not sure about the meaning of some numbers. This is the example which can be found in the chemistry module, folder "Fixed", named NOx_VOC_SO2.

I am not sure what the first 2 numbers mean (such as 208 and 3), then I have the coordinates and in the next row the emission values in kg/hour, for every day of the computing period (which in this example is 3).

The first two numbers correspond to the column and row of the emission's array
