Hi all,
I am trying to model the trajectory of individual volcanic particles characterized by given diameters, densities and shape factors. I guess this spans across the applications of the trajectory and dispersion modules, but is it possible?
Thanks a lot!
Best regards,

To trace the path of computational particles in a dispersion run
you can look at the PARDUMP (particle dump) file.
To see how to tell HYSPLIT to generate a particle dump file
see the Users guide section Concentration / Particle / Display
http://www.arl.noaa.gov/documents/repor ... _guide.pdf
There is a utility called par2asc which will convert the particle dump file to ascii files.
Note that these can be quite large.
The format of the binary PARDUMP file can be found in the users guide as well.
in the section Advanced/Special Topics/Particle Dump File Format
This will also tell you all of the information stored in the particle dump file.
