Get some meteorological data from NAM 12KM

Post by niuniu »

Hi,Sir,

I want to get some meteorological data of specific date, for example 2013-09-08, from NAM 12km. I am eager to know the friction velocity, air temperature, relative humidity and solar radiation from 8am to 18pm , but I did not find them on the http://www.ready.noaa.gov/ready2-bin/metgram1a.pl, could you help me?

Many thanks.

You might want to choose a "sounding" from the menu. Once you obtain the graphic you can download the text file that contains that data corresponding to the station of your choice.

Hi sir,

In the NAM 12km file, the unit of ustr is m/s ? are there the standard dedivations of horizontal and vertical wind speed(turbulence intensity) in the NAM 12km file?

Many Thanks.

Hi sir,
In the Nam 12km file ,this line

1068 13 9 815 3 099USTR 0 0.3937008E-02 0.1518861E+00

means 2013-09-08 15:00 UTC at the height of 99m, the stdev of ustr is 0.3937008E-02, and average of ustr is 0.1518861E+00 ?
"1068 13 9 815 3 " , "3" means what?

Many thanks.

USTR is in m/s (see http://www.ready.noaa.gov/READYflddesc.php )

You can see what fields are in the data set using this web site (look for NAM 12 sigma-pressure hybrid ) http://www.ready.noaa.gov/READYmetdata.php

You can find details on what the 50 byte ASCII header means by viewing page 55 of the HYSPLIT user guide at http://www.arl.noaa.gov/documents/repor ... _guide.pdf
