Hi,
Does HYSPLIT/can HYSPLIT introduce a form of biasing that would allow us to gain better statistics for long transport times? For example, in Monte-Carlo modeling of particle transport through materials, a 'doubler' is applied, as particle numbers die away (as they propagate through shielding). After a certain point, each particle spawns a twin, and the 'value' of each is halved. This allows us to boost statistics in the low-statistics region without putting in a large number of primary particles to start with.
With that being said is there any parameter within HYSPLIT that can achieve better statics for long transport times?
Kind Regards

The only option currently in HYSPLIT to do what you suggest is with the puff option. Each puff will split with time depending on the size of the puff in relation to the size of the meteorological grid cell. Having the ability to split particles is an interesting idea that is worth exploring in the future but is not an option currently.
