What variables are taken into account when extracting precipitation (rainfall) rate along a trajectory

Apologies if this has been asked before.
When using surface accumulated precipitation (e.g. TPP6) in your meteorological input file, does HYSPLIT take into account variables such as boundary layer height or relative humidity when extracting precipitation (rainfall) rate along a trajectory? For example: what happens if you have an endpoint passing through a precipitating grid cell but high above where the precipitation is occurring in the model?
