Top of model domain

Post by fvasallol »

Hi
In our simulations we have selected 15000m as the value for the “top of model” in the CONTROL file, but we have found some outputs in which this limit is exceeded in several points before Hysplit cuts the trajectory:
Figure1.gif
We also have found some trajectories that Hysplit has cut before they reach the height limit:
Figure2.gif
And we have even found some trajectories that exceed the “top of model” in several points and then they continue below this:
Figure3.gif
We are working with GDAS1 data.
Can someone tell us which criteria does Hysplit apply to cut these trajectories?

Can you please send us the CONTROL file that you are using to create these trajectories? Are you also using a SETUP.CFG or just using the default options?

I've attached CONTROL files to which I referred in the former post (figures 2 and 3 belong to the same trajectory). The SETUP.CFG file is also attached.
Please, take into that we've joined the weekly GDAS 1º files in monthly files in order to make it possible to calculate longer trajectories. This is the reason for the name of the atmospheric data files.

I had to change the file extension because a message "Invalid file extension" appeared when I tried to attach them in their original format.

I also add the trajectories from which I took the examples in the first post.
