trajectories spanning multiple weeks of met data

Post by dswaney »

I am using the online version of Hysplit with the Gdas1 met data. The data are specified as weekly files by year, month and week of the month. I'm interested in creating some hourly backward trajectories for a few locations over a period of a week or more. How does the online version of Hysplit handle the situation in which the runs span more than one week of met data? Will the appropriate met files be used, or is it necessary to generate multi-week files and use a downloaded version of Hysplit?
Thanks!

You can run trajectories that require more than one meteorological data file on READY website.
READY will simply create a CONTROL file that has more than one meteorological data file specified in it to cover
the specified time period. See example below for trajectory that goes back 300 h.

22 10 15 12 #STARTING TIME: YEAR MONTH DAY HOUR
1 #NUMBER OF STARTING LOCATIONS
32.055975 -81.719447 500 #STARTING 1: LATITUDE LONGITUDE HEIGHT (m-agl)
-300 #TOTAL RUN TIME (backwards)
0 #VERTICAL MOTION CALCULATION METHOD
15500 #TOP OF MODEL DOMAIN (m-AGL)
4 #NUMBER nextfile mfile OF INPUT DATA GRIDS
