Meterological data for India regions

Post by gkrkpm »

hi;
In HYSPLIT trajectory model i have two file oct1618.BIN and oct1718.BIN as meteorology file. The oct1718.BIN files give me trajectories result for the year 1995 data. How can i get the meteorological data for 2015 year for indian regions.

In this ftp server you can find the GDAS 1 and 0.5 degree resolution global datasets
ftp://arlftp.arlhq.noaa.gov/pub/archives/gdas1/
ftp://arlftp.arlhq.noaa.gov/pub/archives/gdas0p5/

Also, you could use the global reanalysis with a resolution of 2.5 degrees:

I am looking for high spatial and temporal resolution (0.05 or 0.01 degrees; 1-hourly or 3-hourly) global or Indian meteorological files? Where can I find it?

The below files are not really sufficient for my analysis.

One option is you run the WRF model for your study region and then use a converter (arw2arl) to prepare the data in HYSPLIT required format. I am not aware a global dataset in the resolution you want available.

Is this where I can learn to run the WRF model from http://www2.mmm.ucar.edu/wrf/users/wrfv2/install.html?

You can download the model by clicking the "download" on the top of the webpage. There is an online tutorial which you can follow step by step to learn the basic http://www2.mmm.ucar.edu/wrf/OnLineTutorial/index.htm
And presentations on this page provide a lot of details about how to run and apply the model to your case http://www2.mmm.ucar.edu/wrf/users/tuto ... r_2017.htm

Is there any paper you can refer that has run the WRF model to obtain high spatial resolution data?
