Archived gdas1 and gb1 profile discrepancy

Subject: Archived gdas1 and gb1 profile discrepancy

Dear ARL forum:

I am using archived gdas1 and gb1 profiles in to predict cloud formation. For cases prior to December 2004, start of the gdas1 archive, I use the gb1 archive. To check consistency between the two archives I compared profiles for the same date, time and location; they are attached.

One can see, there is a huge difference between Td values (green lines). I think the gdas1 soundings are the most accurate.

Can the accuracy of the gb1 Td values be improved?
