HYSPLIT meteororlogical data files-Q 4,5

Post by bektas61 »

Hi everyone, ı am new to HYSPLIT code but ı have watched and read the tutorials for a long time and ı also tested a few examples then I got several questions about HYSPLIT meteorological data files waiting for the answers.

4-) I created a user-entered meteorological file which is identical with the tutorial part of "3.5 User Entered Meteorological Data". After creation, I wanted to use it for trajectory calculation then run the setup file and ı gave this message.
Simulation Log;
Model started ...
HYSPLIT4 - Initialization

*WARNING*: metini - vertical velocity missing, switching to divergence

*FATAL ERROR* main: all source points off all meteo grids!
See MESSAGE file for more information.----

WARNING metini: FLUXES not found in data (kg,kt) 1 1

KG KT DATA SIZE NX NY

NOTICE main: number meteo grids and times - 1 1
WARNING main: source point off grid number 1
Position: 40.00000 -90.00000
Grid Loc: -42.32253 7.263214
What is the reason for that?

5-) My last and shortest question is about the windrose diagram;
Is it possible to create a windrose diagram from archive data files?

I hope my questions are clear. I am looking forward to your answers.
Best regards.

The error showed that the trajectory started outside the met domain. Did you center the met grid at the location of your trajectory starting point when you created met data?
As mentioned in the tutorial section 3.5 (https://ready.arl.noaa.gov/documents/Tu ... enter.html), this function creates a spatially homogenous met file 10-km resolution covering a 250x250-km domain centering the grid center given by the user.
