HYSPLIT meteororlogical data files

Post by bektas61 »

Hi everyone, ı am new to HYSPLIT code but ı have watched and read the tutorials for a long time and ı also tested a few examples then I got several questions about HYSPLIT meteorological data files waiting for the answers.

3-) Meteorological data files are available from a variety of sources. However, most will need to be reformatted for use by HYSPLIT. When we go to web-page ==>https://apps.ecmwf.int/datasets/data/in ... vtype=sfc/ to obtain
ERA-40:GRIB-1 files from the ECMWF 40 year global or Interim reanalysis files for three different input files such as 3D, 2D, Invariant. There are several parameters available to select from dataset
like 2-meter dewpoint temperature, 2-meter temperature, 10 meter U wind component, 10 meter V wind component. If we select all of the parameters, Does HYSPLIT eliminate negligible ones during to converting the process to arl? I assume that this question should be answered after the first question.

In the GUI, open Meteorology/Convert to ARL/ECMWF ERA, the required variables are listed in the top of the popped up window. The converter program will look for these listed variables. For other variables in the file, the program will ignore.
