Dear HYSPLIT users,
I have a problem running hysplit with the file 20120812_gdas0p5.
If I use a CONTROL file like:

12 08 11 22
1 #NUMBER OF STARTING LOCATIONS
78.93 11.95 50 #STARTING 1: LATITUDE LONGITUDE HEIGHT (m-agl)
-12 #TOTAL RUN TIME (backwards)
0 #VERTICAL MOTION CALCULATION METHOD
11000 #TOP OF MODEL DOMAIN (m-AGL)
2 #NUMBER OF INPUT DATA GRIDS
/opt/chimere/temp/hysplit/hysplit_meteo/meteo/
20120812_gdas0p5
/opt/chimere/temp/hysplit/hysplit_meteo/meteo/
20120811_gdas0p5
./
tdump

I get the error:
At line 250 of file metinp.f
Fortran runtime error: Bad value during floating point read

If I ran chk_file on 20120812_gdas0p5 I get some row with null (\0)
characters starting at output row number 92 (see the attachment
chk_file.output).

Unfortunately, the READY interface cannot reproduce the problem since
20120809_gdas0p5 and 20120810_gdas0p5 are missing and the interface
automatically checks for the last 8 files.
Could you please tell me if I am making something wrong?
Thanks,

Stefano Crocchianti

It looks like there are bad values in the gdas0p5 files for those two days. You may add gdas1 (1 deg) data to the CONTROL that the model will switch using the 1 deg file during the hours when 0.5 deg data are not available.

Thanks Fantine,
this is the configuration I was going to run. I was just looking for
the confirmation you gave me.
Best regards,
