high spatial resolution back-trajectories

I would like to produce high spatial resolution back-trajectories (eg with 1km resolution endpoints).
Presumably the way to do this is to develop high resolution met data? Is it possible to produce high resolution met data from available met data (eg with 1km resolution)?
