Handeling Metdata from NetCDF

I'm creating a subset of meteodata using the NetCDF subset service for Grids. After producing an output file (eg. TP.nc) I import that into the meteorology option of HYSPLIT with the Convert WRF-ARW output file to ARL format option.
That runs fine without any errors but an output file (e.g. ARW2410) is not produced.
What could be the problem here?
I'm using a MacOS.
