Error in 20090504_gdas0p5

Post by croc »

Dear hysplit user forum,
I think I found a problem in the header of the meteo file
20090504_gdas0p5.
hysplit version 5.2.0 crashes reporting the error:

At line 339 of file metinp.f
Fortran runtime error: Bad value during floating point read

whereas chk_data gives:

Opened file : 9 5 4 0

Both file size and md5 checksum are correct.
Could you please confirm the problem?

20090504_gdas0p5 has missing fields. This probably caused the HYSPLIT error you observed. Use GDAS1 or Reanalysis for May 4, 2009.

Information on our GDAS half-degree archive is available at https://www.ready.noaa.gov/archives.php under the "GDAS half-degree archive (Sep 2007 - June 2019)" section. The "Missing data listing" link points to a document that shows known issues, including those with 20090504_gdas0p5. You might want to check files for other dates.

Thank you sonny.zinn.
Sorry for not having checked the readme_gdas0p5_missings.txt. I did not
expect to find a file with just some of the needed fields.
