Suitability of meteorological data in READY for Europe

Post by SEPA »

Hello,

We are a new Hysplit user. We are trying to get some advice regarding the suitability (or not) of the meteorological data contained within READY for trajectory studies applied to Europe. As far as I can tell, only the GDAS and GFS data cover Europe.

Any information would be welcome.

Thanks,

Yes you are correct - those are the only datasets that would cover Europe available on READY.
If you would like to use other datasets then you would need to run HYSPLIT on your own machine.

alicec: thank you for your help.

May I further ask if you have any knowledge of how GFS/GDAS predictions compare with ECMWF predictions, Unified model, or any other European forecast data? Are GFS/GDAS predictions any good for Europe?

Thanks.
