Liquid dispersion in Hysplit

Post by arl.noaa »

Is there a way to model a liquid dispersion in Hysplit? For instance, the source is a liquid spray as opposed to gas.

An intriguing problem. How long does it remain as an aerosol? As an aerosol you could define it as a particle with a diameter and density and in this case the shape factor will really be one. The tricky part would be if it turns to a gas. You can define two pollutants on the same computational particle, one could be a gas and the other a particle, but for gravitational settling computation you have to pick one or the other. Some code tweaks would be required to do it right.
