Conversion of sulfur dioxide to sulfate

Post by mas »

Hello!
I am trying to do a conversion from SO2 to sulfate following your tutorial about Eyjafjallajökull, but with my own data. The model runs 100% (even though quite quickly) and when I want to display the output, the concplot.ps error message shows up. Looking up for the same error message in the forum, I changed some things, such as inserting a new, higher grid. I have the concplot.ps in my working directory as well as the cdump100 and cdump1000 files.

I am not sure if I have to define the gas and particle properties (I use the same properties found here in the forum).

Anyway, I attach here below the message file, the setup file and the control file (I had to convert them to txt to upload them).
My chemrate.txt is 1 2 0.01 1.5

Thanks for any help!
Martina

Hi again!
I think my emission height was too high, when I change it to 1000 m I have the cdump file and the concplot and can visualize it.

So maybe that was the issue.

Yes that is most likely the reason you are not seeing any concentration. If you look at the message file from your first submission you can see that all of the mass is above 3700 meters in this message:

NOTICE main: 6 60333480 360 3.0446554E+07
Index Height %Mass
29 4350.0 41.65
28 4060.0 51.91
27 3780.0 6.44
and in fact none of the mass makes it below 1900 meters even by the end of your simulation:
Index Height %Mass
36 6660.0 0.41
35 6300.0 2.06
34 5950.0 2.02
33 5610.0 1.89
32 5280.0 3.25
31 4960.0 2.31
30 4650.0 3.24
29 4350.0 5.28
28 4060.0 17.58
27 3780.0 18.15
26 3510.0 20.81
25 3250.0 12.20

22 2530.0 1.63
