What do I download?

I went through the download a few times and nothing seems to work. I want to download the public unregistered vesion. I read further and it says to download. The instruction says to download Hysplit.util.phop before loadin Hysplit4, and that no other downloads will be required. I do this and nothing happens, nothing runs. I'm confused. Can someone give me the sequence of events> What and when to download, and how to activate the programs.

Thank you.

You should take a look at the most recent HYSPLIT Workshop document that has a section at the beginning that explains how and what to install. The link to the workshops can be found at:

http://www.arl.noaa.gov/HYSPLIT_workshop.php

You can also view the User Guide at:

Everything is downloaded, unzipped and run. When I start "Run Hysplit4" I open a notepad screen. So what do I do now? The instructions don't say anything about that. Where is the menu that I see in the workshops, etc?

The icon "Run HYSPLIT" is a link to the c:\hysplit4\guicode\hysplit4.tcl script, which is executed by the TCL program you installed from the Graphical utilities download (ActiveTcl8.5.11.1.295590-win32-ix86-threaded.exe). It appears that that program either did not get installed properly or else the .tcl extension has been assigned to the Notepad program instead of the TCL program. You can try to re-associate the tcl extension with the TCL program by right clicking on the icon and choose "Open with" and then search your compute for a program called wish85.exe which should be in the C:\Tcl\bin directory.

The PC version is working fine now. This can be closed.
