I want to download the HYSPLIT PC public version. I have read the HYSPLIT Use Agreement and the Disclaimer. Now , what should I do next?

and it will provide a link to the downloadable file. But before installing either the registered or unregistered version of the model on your PC, you will need to install the utilities package, which can be found at:

Is the PC version of HYSPLIT offered here version 4.9?

The last version of the PC executable was 4.9 dated July 2012.

I'm having a problem opening the program. I downloaded the utilities package and the hysplit program. When i try to open it, a box comes up saying "windows cannot open this file. To open this file, windows needs to know what program you want to use to open it." Please help.

This message usually occurs if you did not run and install the utilities package before installing and running HYSPLIT as it is looking for the TCL program to open hysplit.tcl.

I have a suggestion:
for the PC registration version, please make clear the order how the programs need to be installed.

as it is explained now in the installation instracutions, it is not clear whether the utility packages need to be installed before installing Hysplit. However, from reading this forum, it is clear that the user wants to use the utilities , they must be installed first before installing the core Hysplit package.

A simple clarification in the instructions will be sufficient.

Is the earlier version of hysplit available for download. Version 4.8?

When I download the utilities package it comes as a zip file. What do I do with that? Extract? Open? It gets very confusing. There four files in there. I'm stuck there.

You need to unzip them into a folder and then run each of them to install the software on your computer. These programs provide the GUI interface and PostScript graphics display.
