question about option daily

Post by aamurillo »

The special_runs/daily option works for backward trajectory modeling configurations.?
Can this run be done with such a setting for a time period of one month?

The Trajectory / Special Runs / Daily option is described in HYSPLIT Tutorial Sec. 6.1. Please refer to https://www.ready.noaa.gov/documents/Tu ... _freq.html for details.

Sec. 6.1 uses a duration of 28 days. As long as your choice of meteorological data files covers the time period of your interest, the option should work even longer than 30 days. Note that up to 12 meteorological files can be specified for a HYSPLIT run.

Ok, I have already executed the example that is in the workshop and they do it in forward configuration, so with a backward configuration, can the execution be done with the daily option?

The daily option should work for backward trajectories. Use a negative total run time in Trajectory > Setup Run and a negative interval in Trajectory > Special Runs > Daily. The negative numbers imply backward in time.

I do the configuration for backward trajectories, I run the model with the DAILY option backwards for 12 days, the DAILY is executed but when I go to visualize in frequency or with the cluster option it only recognizes one trajectory in the set of these trajectories that are found in the file INFILE. So how do I get this to run and display correctly?

Guide me from workshop 2022.

Annexes of the INFILE of Frequency Option and Simulation files of the DAILY model

thanks for your answer.

Do the configuration backwards as follows:

CONTROL
21 09 13 00
1
10.4685 -73.2576 150.0
-48
0
10000.0
4
C:/Users/ASUS/Documents/PROJECT/Meteorology/Sep/3km/1-4/
3kmARW220901
C:/Users/ASUS/Documents/PROJECT/Meteorology/Sep/3km/4-7/
3kmARW220904
C:/Users/ASUS/Documents/PROJECT/Meteorology/Sep/3km/7-10/
3kmARW220907
C:/Users/ASUS/Documents/PROJECT/Meteorology/Sep/3km/10-13/
3kmARW220910
./
trajsep21

After that, run the DAILY as shown in the attached image, but it eventually generates the following error:

The first line of your CONTROL file (21 09 13 00) specifies the starting release time as 2021-09-13 00z. However, the names of your meteorological files indicate they are for year 2022. Give it another try after modifying the year in CONTROL, line 1 to 22.

The file name is September 2022, but that is a name error, the weather bases belong to September 2021.

Check the last message I sent that the previous one that I mounted the wrong CONTROL file

The MESSAGE.txt file you attached shows that the four meteorological data files start at 2022-12-01 which is outside your request simulation date. The filedates program in the HYSPLIT exec directory may be used to examine a meteorological data file. The program lists data times.

When I view the weather bases in SHOW DATA - TEXT PROFILE, they show me that they are within the date I am simulating, which is September 2021.
In the error message it sends when the DAILY program ends, what does it mean?

Can I send you the meteorological bases and check it or try to replicate the simulation that I am doing to be able to replicate your procedure please?
