I am attempting to transfer a daily ERA Interim GRIB-1 file into ARW format. After selecting the GRIB-1 file in the 3-d data slot and clicking process data, I am getting an error stating
error: could not read "filename", no such file or directory
I am certain that the filename is correct and the file is there, could there be another problem that could cause this error message to appear?

Re: Error converting ERA Interim GRIB-1 file for transfer to ARW format
What release number of HYSPLIT are you using and what operating system?
Possibly this could happen if you don't have permission to read the file.
Please note that you will also need files with 2D and invariant fields.

The ERA-I GRIB-1 file was downloaded from the recommended source:

Re: Error converting ERA Interim GRIB-1 file for transfer to ARW format
To check permissions for a file on a PC you would want to right click on it,
choose "properties" choose the "security" tab and then look for your group or user name,
Click on that and then make sure you have permission to read the file.
This could be a problem if the computer user that downloaded the file
was different than the computer user that is running HYSPLIT.

It appears that I have full permission to read and modify the file.

Is there a MESSAGE and/or STDOUT file created in your working directory?
If so, please post the contents of these files.
you can also try to run from the command line. Open command prompt and type
C:\hysplit4\working\grib2arl
This will show you options for inputs.
Then to run the command just with input of the 3d grib file
C:\hysplit4\working\grib2arl -iNAMEOFFILE
You can also use the ecm2arl utility from the command line which was created to specifically work with the interim data.
