Re: Restart option for PC

The deposition is set in the CONTROL file. When you restart your run with the particle file your are continuing your deposition calculation.

Re: Issue while running grib2arl on AIX

I encounter a similar problem but the opposite way (i.e. works on AIX but doesn't work on linux). I think it has to do with the w3 libraries. I was not able to solve the problem.

Re: Trajectory option

Using the sigma option forces the model to keep the trajectories at the same vertical level and there is no vertical motion for the duration of the run. I would not recommend using this option unless you do it for model evaluation purposes. Please refer to the following link for further information ...

Re: Zonal winds only

You might need to manipulate either the meteorological file or modify the source code to zero out the v and w wind fields. Are you generating you own meteorological fields or you are using the ARL formatted ones?

Re: NARR2ARL

Try to process a couple of files manually first. Then try the script for only a couple of days and see if it works.

Re: cluster techniques

Description of clustering process: Initially, total spatial variance is zero. Each trajectory is defined to be a cluster, in other words, there are N trajectories and N clusters. For the first iteration, which two clusters (trajectories) are paired? For every combination of trajectory pairs, the clu...

Re: HYSPLIT for Mars

Here are some comments/answers: 1) Yes, there might be several locations where gravity is defined throughout the code. 3) If no terrain height is provided by the meteorological data (see below), the model will read it from a file called TERRAIN.ASC under the bdyfiles directory. 4) Yes, the model rea...

Re: HYSPLIT for Mars

This is a really unique application for HYSPLIT! Here are some thoughts that can help you. During the calculation the model implicitly uses a standard atmosphere air density, so that needs to be modified. However, that might not be the only required modification. For instance, if you are letting the...
