The CentOS distribution contains binary executables and compilation is not necessary. To run HYSPLIT, unpack the tar ball, change directory to "centOSDynamicExecutables/working," and run the "hysplit4.tcl" script therein.

Which tag did you use to get the Linux source code? There are three hysplit.v4.2.0, v4.1.0, and v4.0.0, at the moment.

ftp is a program for transferring files and it is usually included with the operating system. We do not provide ftp. If your Mac computer does not have the ftp program, you would need to have it installed. Please check with your IT department.

You might benefit from examining files within the 'testing' directory inside your hysplit installation. There are script files named xrun.bat and xrun.scr for Windows and Linux, respectively. These scripts run more than hundred cases for testing purposes.
