Re: Convert files of CFS, GFS, and FNL to ARL format

The HYSPLIT error message you saw is the same as viewtopic.php?f=14&t=2718. Please check the date time interval of your files converted for HYSPLIT.

Re: HYSPLIT unable to locate tcl/where to install tcl?

To check if tcl is correctly installed on your Ubuntu computer, open a terminal and run "which wish." It should print where the wish program is located, as shown below: $ which wish /usr/bin/wish If "wish" is unavailable on your computer, you will need to have it installed by running something like ...

Re: ERA5 conversion

HYSPLIT expects a constant time interval in a meteorological data file. For example, if the difference between the first data time and the second is 60 minutes, the third should be 60 minutes after the second. And so on. The error message "Changed from 60 min to -300 min" indicates the interval was ...

Re: svn: E000104: Error running context: Connection reset by peer

Have you included the --no-check-certificate option when you tried the wget command? If it was already tried, our IT department wants to know what operating system you are using, the svn/wget version numbers, and the full command-line used to pull the code (except for the username and the password).

Re: svn: E000104: Error running context: Connection reset by peer

I was able to download the HYSPLIT source code using the svn command a few minutes ago. Perhaps, your system is configured to use IPv6 address? If this is the case, you might want to try the wget command with the IPv4 address only option. The download instructions you received describe how to use th...

Re: Subgridding HRRR data before downloading

Probably you could write a script that automates downloading HRRR data files from the ARL archives. See https://www.ready.noaa.gov/archives.php on how to use ftp access. Downloaded files may be cropped by using xtrct_grid or xtrct_time: see https://www.ready.noaa.gov/hysplitusersguide/util.htm#xtrct...

Re: Trajectories of NASA's super pressure balloons @35km over Antarctica

The original GFS may have more data for higher altitudes. For the ARL-formatted files for HYSPLIT, the lowest pressure for the GFS Model (1 degree, pressure), the GFS (Long Range) Model, and the GFS (0.25 degree, sigma-pressure hybrid) Model are 100 hPa, 100 hPa, and 13 hPa, respectively: please ref...

Re: Unable to get Hysplit working on my PC

The hysplit.tcl file should be opened with the tcl application you installed. If you followed the installation instructions at https://www.ready.noaa.gov/documents/Tu ... l_win.html, it is C:\tcl\bin\wish86t.exe. Please consult the last paragraph under Step 3.
