Re: How to choose which meteorological data to use
Please see the basic HYSPLIT tutorial at https://www.ready.noaa.gov/HYSPLIT_Tutorials.php, particularly sections and 4.6 and 13.4. Yes to "Or can each meteorological data be used, but the final effect may be different?" You want to use the meteorology file (gridded, at finite time steps) that best r...

Re: Pointer Select
No. It was removed because we wanted consistency between all HYSPLIT versions and it was not available for the Mac.

Re: Execute Display quantity with gsview concentration in hysplit
You can set the HYSPLIT output averaging time in the CONTROL file. See the Basic Tutorial at https://www.ready.noaa.gov/HYSPLIT_Tutorials.php, particularly Section 8.1.
Re: add_grid
Taking a 1-degree grid and changing it to be a 0.5 degree grid by interpolation will not show the small scale features that a WRF run will show. The small scale features in the atmosphere do not usually vary linearly in space (and time) as given by the output from add_grid.
Re: add_grid
I tried 10 on your dataset and it similarly failed. In looking at the code at a first glance it seems like a higher divisor number should work, but I do not have the time right now to spend on this. If you revise the code to handle what you are trying to do, we can put it in the repository. Why are ...
Re: add_grid
It should have worked. Try running chk_file on addgrid.bin to see if the (1,1) values are non-zero given in the ASCII header are non-zero. If they are zero, have you successfully run HYSPLIT with your 1-degree file? Or run chk_file on your 1-degree file to check it. Clearly your 1-degree file must b...

Re: add_data routine
It's a problem of the meteorology data (gdas1). For example a lambert conformal grid would work.

Re: add_data routine
Are you using a lat-lon grid? The program add_data is designed for a conformal grid, not a lat-lon grid.

Re: Question about 'Number of particle and puff'
You are getting the "... exceeding..." message because the number of particles in the run reaches the maximum you specified (MAXPAR). For a description of what is in the MESSAGE file, see https://ready.arl.noaa.gov/hysplitusersguide/S443.htm You can increase the MAXPAR so you won't get the "exceedin...
