Wind Profile
Hi, I am looking at the met profile for a met file with .gbl extension and I wanted to ask how the degrees for the wind direction WDIR is defined? Is zero degrees on the North-East line? The profile also doesn't interpolate as well and for each temporal profile the file has the following line in the...

0.25 Degree Met Data
Hi,
Is there any available data at 0.25 degree spatial resolution similar to GDAS? (Excluding forecast data)
Thanks

Re: GDAS 1 Degree vs 0.5 Degree
Thanks,
Up to what altitudes do these met files go up to? It seems HYSPLIT produces an error if the top of the atmospheric domain is greater than 100km.

GDAS 1 Degree vs 0.5 Degree
Hi,
Does the temporal resolution between the GDAS 1 Degree and GDAS 0.5 Degrees available on the FTP Server differ?
Many Thanks

Re: Forecast Data
Hi, I have checked the link and it seems there are no files for future times. The file at hysplit.t06z.gfsf for 11th October is the most recent file. Each file is also around 700MB for a 6 hour forecast. This results in roughly 2.84GB for a single day. The 0.25 GFS degree resolution is 2.1GB per day...

Forecast Data
Hi,
The NOAA FTP server provides GFS data at 0.5 spatial resolution. These files are however to large and I am looking for current forecast data that is compatible with HYSPLIT and ideally at 1 degree resolution. Does the NOAA FTP server provide such forecast data?
Kind Regards

Improving Statistics
Hi, Does HYSPLIT/can HYSPLIT introduce a form of biasing that would allow us to gain better statistics for long transport times? For example, in Monte-Carlo modeling of particle transport through materials, a 'doubler' is applied, as particle numbers die away (as they propagate through shielding). A...

Source Sensitivty Functions
Hi, Section 12.4 of the tutorial uses data from multiple samplers to produce a source sensitivity function. The grid cell with the highest source region is taken to be the estimate of the release location. 1. Is there any literature/reading that can mathematically describe what these source sensitiv...

Re: MPI RUN
I am calculating 96 trajectories. Three trajectories for each sampling entry in the sampling input file.

MPI RUN
Hi,
I am currently having difficulty using MPI for a trajectory run. I've changed the executable call to:
mpirun -np 4 {HOME}/...../hytm_std
This runs the model but with only one core and then returns a segmentation fault at the end. MPI runs have been successful with concentration runs.
Thanks
