Re: Input data grids for CONTROL in wrf-hysplit

If you are using the inline version of HYSPLIT (coupled with WRF), it does not use the met input files mentioned in the CONTROL file because met data are directly from WRF. More detail info can be found in the technical note available on the inline HYSPLIT web page : https://www.arl.noaa.gov/hysplit...

Re: 0.25 Degree Met Data

Maybe you want to consider the ERA5 dataset which is at 30-km spatial resolution.
The conversion program for it is available: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1351&p=3882&hilit=ERA5#p3882

Re: Compiling problem

The error is due to newly added HYSPLIT variables are not defined in the Registry file. The inline HYSPLIT package has two files (registry.hysplit and Registry.EM) that should be copied to your Registry directory. Please check if it was done properly. The inline HYSPLIT was implemented in a standard...

Re: Compiling problem

To be clear, you were trying to compiler the inline WRF-HYSPLIT.
"MPI_COMM_WORLD" is one of the functions in MPI library. Have you checked the MPI library to be installed properly on your machine with the gfortran complier? And you should be using option 34 for gfortran compiler.

Re: runtime error, decodr.f

This error occurred when the model was trying to read the CONTROL file, probably at the line about the release location. Please check your CONTROL file to see if it is in the right format. You can compare yours with the example available on the HYSPLIT tutorial. https://ready.arl.noaa.gov/documents/...

Re: backward trajectories on hysplit

You can run HYSPLIT using a batch file on a PC or a script on a Linux machine. There are examples of batch files and scripts on the HYSPLIT tutorial website. For running backward trajectories, you can go to https://ready.arl.noaa.gov/documents/Tutorial/html/traj_basic.html Click the icons on top of ...

Re: Fortran error when generating control files from a script

You can check the "MESSAGE" file which generated with the run to see the print out about the error.
Also, can you show your CONTROL and SETUP.CFG file?

MERRA2 dataset

A conversion program is now available to convert MERRA2 files to ARL format for HYSPLIT application. It is in the trunk/data2arl/mer2arl directory and is called mer2arl. Note: A readme file (Readme_mer2arl.txt) is available in the directory. The required library is netCDF version 4. An example csh s...

Re: MERRA-2 Data for HYSPLIT

The MERRA2 dataset has all variables for running HYSPLIT. We have developed a converter to write the data in ARL format for HYSPLIT application. The converter uses MERRA2 3D variables including PL, QV, T, U, V, OMEGA and 2D variables including PS, EFLUX, HFLUX, USTAR, PBLH, Z0M, PRECTOTCORR, T2M, U1...
