Re: Can't open grib_api.mod

In the Makefile, you should put the path of grib_api library to "top_builddir" and include a correct directory for "grid_api.mod" in the compilation flag. Example: top_builddir = /usr AM_FCFLAGS = -I$(top_builddir)/include -I$(top_builddir)/include/jasper -I$(top_builddir)/lib64/gfortran/modules LDA...

Re: wrfout conversion with arw2arl.exe; Error:NetCDF unknown file format

For running arw2arl.exe, you do not need to do anything for the wrf output files. Double check whether the file path is broken or not. Some suggestions online talk about replacing the dots '.' by '_' in the original netcdf file if you are running it on PC. Windows may struggle with dots in the file ...

Re: Inconsistent behavior in radius plot option

I am running HYSPLIT (version 854) on a Win 7 PC. I plotted the U10M variable from the WRF27 dataset, centered at 39.0/-84.22 with radius 0.8 and 0.4 (attached). The radius value for the contour is latitude in degree. If you don't see the plot responding to the radius value, it may be the requested ...

Re: Meterological data for India regions

You can download the model by clicking the "download" on the top of the webpage. There is an online tutorial which you can follow step by step to learn the basic http://www2.mmm.ucar.edu/wrf/OnLineTutorial/index.htm And presentations on this page provide a lot of details about how to run and apply t...

Re: Meterological data for India regions

One option is you run the WRF model for your study region and then use a converter (arw2arl) to prepare the data in HYSPLIT required format. I am not aware a global dataset in the resolution you want available.

Re: question about merge arl files

if you have multiple ARL format files converted from several WRF files, you can simply merge the ARL files using "cat" for linux/unix computing environment.

Re: question about merge arl files

When running arw2arl, you can set option -b and -e to process the desire hour in the WRF file.
-b[beginning time period index (1)]
-e[ending time period index (9999)]
If not setting these two options, the program will process all time steps in the WRF file.

Re: Use terrain and Land use data created by WPS?

The arw2arl converter makes the terrain data available for HYSPLIT. If you are running the simulation with WRF data, the model is actually using terrain data from WRF.

Re: Use terrain and Land use data created by WPS?

The landuse and terrain data from WRF should be written in HYSPLIT required format.
There is a "Readme_bdyfiles" in the directory ~/hysplit4/bdyfiles explaining the detail. And a fortran program "bdy2bin.f" in the same directory shows how to write out data in HYSPLIT format.
