Our 1 deg x 1 deg GDAS archive data began in Dec. 2004 - ftp://arlftp.arlhq.noaa.gov/pub/archives/gdas1/ Prior to that, you could use our Re-analysis data, but it is 2.5 deg x 2.5 deg. Its been a very long time since we used COAMPS and almost certainly the attached program will need to be revised. The required packing subroutines can be found in the PC distribution (data2arl directory).

Well there is a difference between getting different results and getting nothing from one of the simulations. The output of the trajectory frequency program is a binary file (tfreq.bin) in the same format as the binary concentration output and is written to the /working directory. You can find more details about this using the help file on your PC.

You would need to use the 2nd approach, where instead of -1 in the control file, the value represents the threshold friction velocity, and the next field instead of the area, represents the area times the soil dust density. So you can fine tune your location.

Yes - the spacing of the potential dust locations in the CONTROL file is arbitrary and determined by the user. You just need to adjust area with each point so that the total area over all points represents the area of the lake.
